Tata Arbitrage Fund may make sense for a genuine short-term objective, but I would keep that allocation separate from the long-term portfolio strategy. I also don't choose funds mainly on past performance; expense ratios and exit loads are useful filters, but they aren't the complete investment rationale.I believe it is worth distinguishing between broad diversification and an efficiently managed portfolio.Looking at the figures, my portfolio has remained fairly stable, with positive returns.
