i too believe that G-sec yields would head higher over the next 1 and 2 years. What is surprising to me is that during such times (i.e. when yields go up), equity usually does well ; however, even wrt Equity, my sense is that from current levels for Nifty/ Sensex, it's risk/return outlook is poor & the best case scenario seems to be 0% nominal return over the next 2 years.

even if RBI mcm announces new OMO, liquidity measures & other announcements , such as accomodative policy (I doubt that they would agree to rate cut now) to ease longer tenor yields, G-sec yields would most likely show upward trend over the next 1 and next 2 years.

In my view dollar will be devalued and inflation should be high in coming years. So I am expecting higher yields in long term.

is there any prospect in 2021 bond market? is there any chance of further rate cut in 2021? Is bond yield already formed a bottom in 5.7 region?

Upender ji. Can debt MF sell their bonds in secondary market. As they hold large quantities & there is very less liquidity in secondary market.

Yes, secondary market plays an important role in supporting primary markets. Bonds can be traded through brokerage houses. Generally, attractiveness of bond depend upon its price and yield. If its an bargain issue at a decent yield, demand for these bonds will be higher. If the bond is selling at par or above with low yield (situation in which we are right now) have less demand.

In a long term liquidity is not an issue. For a bargain issue, buyer can be easily found excluding companies which are at the verge of bankruptcy.

RBI will be buying bonds from open market and as per recent data they have already bought bonds. Moreover once inflation eases, rate cuts are inevitable

very unlikely, inflation is running wild, easily above 7% . Yield offered by RBI was already rejected last week.

looks like it did infact stay at around 5.99. 7% from 6% is a straight 17% movement which seems to be highly unlikely within a month even with the increased inflation.

i was saying 7% for inflation, not for yield. if inflation is 7% and yield 6%, bond buyers will loose money at 1% per year. RBI was selling bonds according to current yield but there were no buyers because of increasing inflation.

and MPC meet got postponed to next week, there is no decision on rate cut. yield will only fall if RBI decides to decrease the repo rate, so that gov can borrow at lower interest rates.

Unlikely for 10-Year Bonds to go below 5.9. Last few weeks there have been no takers for RBIs Bond auctions. With huge supply rush of bonds expected in the next few months, there will be excess supply and sellers will have to price the bonds attractively to gain subscription. I only see bond prices moving up from here.
