Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Automobiles & Parts, Electrical and Industrial Metals & Mining sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.56%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Smiths Group PLC (LON:SMIN), which rose 1.06% or 17.00 points to trade at 1,618.00 at the close. Intertek Group PLC (LON:ITRK) added 0.98% or 40.00 points to end at 4,125.00 and WPP PLC (LON:WPP) was up 0.93% or 6.60 points to 716.60 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Carnival PLC (LON:CCL), which lost 5.94% or 59.20 points to trade at 936.80 in late trade. Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO) declined 4.40% or 25.80 points to end at 561.00 and Tui AG (LON:TUIT) shed 4.28% or 19.20 points to 429.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1391 to 313 and 413 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.40% or 7.35 to $1,839.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 0.86% or 0.76 to hit $89.58 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 0.51% or 0.46 to trade at $91.17 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.05% to 1.21, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.05% to 0.87.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.18% at 106.80.
