Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Chemicals, Fixed Line Telecommunications and General Industrial sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 declined 0.53%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO), which rose 5.48% or 20.10 points to trade at 386.60 at the close. Hikma Pharmaceuticals PLC (LON:HIK) added 2.83% or 52.00 points to end at 1,890.50 and Samsung Electronics Co Ltd DRC (LON:0593xq) was up 2.13% or 29.00 points to 1,393.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Croda International PLC (LON:CRDA), which lost 12.45% or 750.00 points to trade at 5,274.00 in late trade. DS Smith PLC (LON:SMDS) declined 1.77% or 5.60 points to end at 310.90 and Experian PLC (LON:EXPN) shed 1.65% or 48.00 points to 2,868.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 907 to 774 and 528 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.13% or 2.65 to $1,975.95 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 0.49% or 0.35 to hit $70.94 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 0.42% or 0.32 to trade at $75.64 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.16% to 1.26, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.44% to 0.85.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.19% at 103.51.
