U.K. shares lower at close of trade; Investing.com United Kingdom 100 down 0.18%

Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Automobiles & Parts , Fixed Line Telecommunications and Healthcare Equipment & Services sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.18%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were BT Group PLC (LON: BT ), which rose 2.79% or 4.80 points to trade at 176.65 at the close. Sberbank Of Russia (LON: SBNCyq ) added 2.30% or 0.37 points to end at 16.26 and B&M European Value Retail SA (LON: BMEB ) was up 2.25% or 14.20 points to 644.00 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON: RR ), which lost 3.37% or 4.34 points to trade at 124.30 in late trade. International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (LON: ICAG ) declined 3.32% or 4.74 points to end at 138.02 and EasyJet PLC (LON: EZJ ) shed 2.54% or 14.00 points to 536.20.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1179 to 798 and 458 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.56% or 10.00 to $1775.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 1.15% or 0.83 to hit $71.53 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 1.09% or 0.83 to trade at $74.99 a barrel.

GBP/USD was up 0.02% to 1.3211, while EUR/GBP fell 0.47% to 0.8544.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.41% at 96.270.
