U.K. shares higher at close of trade; Investing.com United Kingdom 100 up 0.55%

Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Mobile Telecommunications , Industrial Engineering and Electronic & Electrical Equipment sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.55%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were BT Group PLC (LON: BT ), which rose 11.85% or 16.85 points to trade at 158.96 at the close. Sage Group PLC (LON: SGE ) added 3.65% or 26.00 points to end at 739.40 and Segro Plc (LON: SGRO ) was up 3.42% or 44.50 points to 1344.50 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Hargreaves Lansdown PLC (LON: HRGV ), which lost 7.35% or 117.50 points to trade at 1480.50 in late trade. NatWest Group PLC (LON: NWG ) declined 5.20% or 11.70 points to end at 213.29 and Lloyds Banking Group PLC (LON: LLOY ) shed 4.33% or 2.18 points to 48.31.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1432 to 954 and 60 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 1.68% or 29.70 to $1793.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 0.66% or 0.53 to hit $81.39 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 0.95% or 0.78 to trade at $82.77 a barrel.

GBP/USD was down 1.25% to 1.3513, while EUR/GBP rose 0.77% to 0.8547.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.51% at 94.328.
