EV stock jumps after company announces its Q1 FY26 results
Investing.com – United States equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Dow Jones Consumer Goods, Dow Jones Telecommunications and Dow Jones Industrials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NYSE, the Dow Jones Industrial Average added 0.89%, while the S&P 500 index gained 0.96%, and the NASDAQ Composite index added 0.94%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Dow Jones Industrial Average were Sherwin-Williams Co (NYSE:SHW), which rose 3.08% or 10.27 points to trade at 343.77 at the close. International Business Machines (NYSE:IBM) added 2.92% or 8.21 points to end at 289.18 and 3M Company (NYSE:MMM) was up 2.48% or 3.57 points to 147.60 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Amgen Inc (NASDAQ:AMGN), which fell 5.83% or 16.88 points to trade at 272.45 in late trade. Chevron Corp (NYSE:CVX) declined 1.80% or 2.69 points to end at 146.86 and Amazon.com Inc (NASDAQ:AMZN) down 0.58% or 1.22 points to 208.47.
The top performers on the S&P 500 were Tesla Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) which rose 8.22% to 348.63, Northern Trust Corporation (NASDAQ:NTRS) which was up 8.01% to settle at 120.81 and Arista Networks (NYSE:ANET) which gained 6.61% to close at 91.95.
The worst performers were Super Micro Computer Inc (NASDAQ:SMCI) which was down 9.77% to 40.89 in late trade, APA Corporation (NASDAQ:APA) which lost 7.91% to settle at 18.39 and Halliburton Company (NYSE:HAL) which was down 6.78% to 20.77 at the close.
The top performers on the NASDAQ Composite were Super League Enterprise Inc (NASDAQ:SLE) which rose 3,946.30% to 4.37, Maase Inc DRC (NASDAQ:MAAS) which was up 276.14% to settle at 9.93 and Cidara Therapeutics Inc (NASDAQ:CDTX) which gained 113.51% to close at 44.88.
The worst performers were S&W Seed Company (NASDAQ:SANW) which was down 57.49% to 2.27 in late trade, Compass Pathways Plc (NASDAQ:CMPS) which lost 49.24% to settle at 2.35 and Gibo Holdings Ltd (NASDAQ:GIBO) which was down 39.79% to 0.57 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones by 1818 to 952 and 75 ended unchanged; on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, 1782 rose and 1543 declined, while 135 ended unchanged on the New York Stock Exchange.
Shares in Northern Trust Corporation (NASDAQ:NTRS) rose to 3-year highs; gaining 8.01% or 8.96 to 120.81. Shares in International Business Machines (NYSE:IBM) rose to all time highs; gaining 2.92% or 8.21 to 289.18. Shares in Compass Pathways Plc (NASDAQ:CMPS) fell to all time lows; down 49.24% or 2.28 to 2.35. Shares in Cidara Therapeutics Inc (NASDAQ:CDTX) rose to 3-year highs; rising 113.51% or 23.86 to 44.88. Shares in Gibo Holdings Ltd (NASDAQ:GIBO) fell to all time lows; losing 39.79% or 0.37 to 0.57.
The CBOE Volatility Index, which measures the implied volatility of S&P 500 options, was down 3.73% to 19.85.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.03% or 1.05 to $3,386.75 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 8.63% or 6.37 to hit $67.47 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 7.96% or 6.01 to trade at $69.47 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.49% to 1.16, while USD/JPY fell 0.01% to 146.08.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.33% at 97.96.
