Investing.com – United Kingdom equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the FTSE 350 Industrial Transportation, FTSE 350 - Real Estate Investment Trusts REITs and FTSE 350 Real Estate sectors led shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 1.23%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Severn Trent PLC (LON:SVT), which rose 0.94% or 24.00 points to trade at 2,574.00 at the close. Imperial Brands PLC (LON:IMB) added 0.55% or 14.00 points to end at 2,572.00 and Hikma Pharmaceuticals PLC (LON:HIK) was up 0.36% or 7.00 points to 1,935.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Pershing Square Holdings Ltd (LON:PSHP), which fell 3.77% or 146.00 points to trade at 3,732.00 in late trade. Mondi PLC (LON:MNDI) declined 3.66% or 43.50 points to end at 1,145.50 and Ashtead Group PLC (LON:AHT) down 3.41% or 176.00 points to 4,990.00.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones by 1383 to 452 and 589 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
Shares in Mondi PLC (LON:MNDI) fell to 5-year lows; down 3.66% or 43.50 to 1,145.50.
Gold Futures for February delivery was down 1.73% or 45.84 to $2,607.46 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 1.73% or 1.22 to hit $69.36 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 0.87% or 0.64 to trade at $72.75 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.34% to 1.25, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.51% to 0.83.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.31% at 108.08.
