Investing.com – United Kingdom equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the FTSE 350 Construction & Building Materials, FTSE 350 General Industrials and FTSE 350 Beverages sectors led shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 declined 0.82%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were GSK plc (LON:GSK), which rose 1.06% or 14.00 points to trade at 1,333.50 at the close. HALEON PLC (LON:HLN) added 1.00% or 3.80 points to end at 384.70 and Compass Group PLC (LON:CPG) was up 0.64% or 17.00 points to 2,672.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Bunzl PLC (LON:BNZL), which fell 5.68% or 202.00 points to trade at 3,356.00 in late trade. JD Sports Fashion PLC (LON:JD) declined 2.77% or 2.74 points to end at 96.24 and WPP PLC (LON:WPP) down 2.66% or 23.40 points to 856.40.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones by 1258 to 551 and 606 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.53% or 14.19 to $2,655.81 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 2.11% or 1.49 to hit $69.22 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 1.45% or 1.07 to trade at $72.84 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.32% to 1.27, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.31% to 0.83.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.06% at 106.50.
