Investing.com – United Kingdom equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the FTSE 350 - Automobiles & Parts, FTSE 350 Fixed Line Telecommuniations and FTSE 350 - Industrial Metals & Mining sectors led shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 declined 0.50%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Compass Group PLC (LON:CPG), which rose 4.52% or 99.00 points to trade at 2,290.00 at the close. Smurfit Kappa Group PLC (LON:SWR) added 3.91% or 141.00 points to end at 3,750.00 and Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON:RR) was up 3.77% or 16.70 points to 460.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Glencore PLC (LON:GLEN), which fell 2.24% or 9.95 points to trade at 433.40 in late trade. Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL) declined 2.22% or 49.50 points to end at 2,184.50 and Londonmetric Property Plc (LON:LMPL) down 2.19% or 4.40 points to 197.00.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones by 976 to 783 and 715 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.45% or 10.80 to $2,405.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 2.04% or 1.60 to hit $76.80 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 1.81% or 1.49 to trade at $80.91 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.16% to 1.29, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.18% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.15% at 104.19.
