Investing.com – United Kingdom equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the FTSE 350 Mining, FTSE 350 Fixed Line Telecommuniations and FTSE 350 Gas Water & Multiutilities sectors led shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 declined 0.07%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Intermediate Capital Group PLC (LON:ICGIN), which rose 6.61% or 140.00 points to trade at 2,258.00 at the close. Halma PLC (LON:HLMA) added 4.09% or 116.00 points to end at 2,951.00 and Entain PLC (LON:ENT) was up 4.00% or 27.20 points to 706.80 in late trade.
Biggest losers included EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ), which fell 5.16% or 26.40 points to trade at 484.80 in late trade. United Utilities Group PLC (LON:UU) declined 2.66% or 26.60 points to end at 973.00 and Centrica PLC (LON:CNA) down 2.56% or 3.55 points to 134.90.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones by 919 to 868 and 632 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
Shares in Halma PLC (LON:HLMA) rose to 3-year highs; gaining 4.09% or 116.00 to 2,951.00.
Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.35% or 9.55 to $2,768.75 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 0.13% or 0.10 to hit $75.73 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 0.08% or 0.06 to trade at $79.23 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.31% to 1.23, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.18% to 0.85.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.15% at 108.02.
