Investing.com – United Kingdom equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the FTSE 350 Household Goods, FTSE 350 Construction & Building Materials and FTSE 350 - Real Estate Investment Trusts REITs sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 1.19%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Vistry Group PLC (LON:VTYV), which rose 15.74% or 81.00 points to trade at 595.50 at the close. Lloyds Banking Group PLC (LON:LLOY) added 6.53% or 3.50 points to end at 57.12 and Barclays PLC (LON:BARC) was up 6.50% or 17.15 points to 280.95 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL), which fell 0.97% or 24.00 points to trade at 2,448.00 in late trade. Reckitt Benckiser Group PLC (LON:RKT) declined 0.86% or 42.00 points to end at 4,821.00 and Imperial Brands PLC (LON:IMB) down 0.58% or 15.00 points to 2,580.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones by 1360 to 476 and 565 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
Shares in Barclays PLC (LON:BARC) rose to 5-year highs; rising 6.50% or 17.15 to 280.95.
Gold Futures for February delivery was up 1.25% or 33.59 to $2,715.89 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 2.45% or 1.87 to hit $78.24 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 1.99% or 1.59 to trade at $81.51 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.03% to 1.22, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.19% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.11% at 108.99.
