Investing.com – United Kingdom equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the FTSE 350 Industrial Transportation, FTSE 350 Aerospace & Defense and FTSE 350 Industrial Engineering sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.94%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON:RR), which rose 5.85% or 29.00 points to trade at 525.00 at the close. Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES) added 4.53% or 25.50 points to end at 588.50 and Antofagasta PLC (LON:ANTO) was up 4.53% or 80.50 points to 1,858.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included SSE PLC (LON:SSE), which fell 2.73% or 54.50 points to trade at 1,942.00 in late trade. National Grid PLC (LON:NG) declined 2.62% or 27.50 points to end at 1,023.00 and Vodafone Group PLC (LON:VOD) down 2.46% or 1.92 points to 76.16.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones by 1262 to 551 and 657 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
Shares in Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON:RR) rose to 5-year highs; rising 5.85% or 29.00 to 525.00.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.64% or 16.75 to $2,615.35 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 2.20% or 1.54 to hit $71.42 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 1.94% or 1.43 to trade at $75.08 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.54% to 1.33, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.24% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.18% at 100.46.
