Investing.com – United Kingdom equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the FTSE 350 Mining, FTSE 350 Chemicals and FTSE 350 - Industrial Metals & Mining sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.62%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (LON:ICAG), which rose 5.51% or 9.05 points to trade at 173.35 at the close. EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ) added 4.21% or 18.70 points to end at 462.90 and Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES) was up 4.08% or 22.50 points to 574.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included JD Sports Fashion PLC (LON:JD), which fell 4.00% or 4.70 points to trade at 112.90 in late trade. 3I Group PLC (LON:III) declined 1.22% or 37.00 points to end at 3,008.00 and Hikma Pharmaceuticals PLC (LON:HIK) down 1.19% or 22.00 points to 1,823.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones by 1265 to 539 and 685 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 1.62% or 37.75 to $2,371.15 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.10% or 0.08 to hit $82.89 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.10% or 0.09 to trade at $86.33 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.61% to 1.28, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.12% to 0.85.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.47% at 104.91.
