Investing.com – United Kingdom equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the FTSE 350 Mining, FTSE 350 Food Producers and FTSE 350 Tobacco sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.35%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Antofagasta PLC (LON:ANTO), which rose 2.10% or 37.50 points to trade at 1,825.00 at the close. Prudential PLC (LON:PRU) added 1.85% or 11.60 points to end at 638.60 and Marks and Spencer Group PLC (LON:MKS) was up 1.76% or 6.50 points to 376.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Smurfit WestRock PLC (LON:SWR), which fell 2.64% or 94.00 points to trade at 3,470.00 in late trade. B&M European Value Retail SA (LON:BMEB) declined 2.57% or 10.80 points to end at 410.10 and DS Smith PLC (LON:SMDS) down 2.43% or 11.40 points to 457.00.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones by 913 to 860 and 695 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
Shares in B&M European Value Retail SA (LON:BMEB) fell to 52-week lows; falling 2.57% or 10.80 to 410.10. Shares in Marks and Spencer Group PLC (LON:MKS) rose to 5-year highs; gaining 1.76% or 6.50 to 376.00.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.33% or 8.70 to $2,654.90 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 1.63% or 1.16 to hit $69.84 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 1.34% or 0.99 to trade at $72.70 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.19% to 1.33, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.57% to 0.83.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.13% at 100.55.
