Investing.com – United Kingdom equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the FTSE 350 Life Insurance, FTSE 350 Chemicals and FTSE 350 Household Goods sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.30% to hit a new all time high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Prudential PLC (LON:PRU), which rose 5.77% or 39.40 points to trade at 722.00 at the close. Entain PLC (LON:ENT) added 5.46% or 36.00 points to end at 696.00 and Barratt Redrow PLC (LON:BTRW) was up 5.29% or 23.10 points to 460.10 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Smurfit WestRock PLC (LON:SWR), which fell 7.01% or 302.00 points to trade at 4,007.00 in late trade. Glencore PLC (LON:GLEN) declined 2.47% or 8.65 points to end at 341.00 and Centrica PLC (LON:CNA) down 2.11% or 2.95 points to 137.05.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones by 911 to 855 and 621 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
Shares in Glencore PLC (LON:GLEN) fell to 3-year lows; down 2.47% or 8.65 to 341.00.
Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.03% or 0.94 to $2,933.54 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 2.25% or 1.65 to hit $71.67 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 2.03% or 1.56 to trade at $75.44 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.11% to 1.25, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.32% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.08% at 107.75.
