Investing.com – United Kingdom equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the FTSE 350 - Industrial Metals & Mining, FTSE 350 Life Insurance and FTSE 350 Chemicals sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.25%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL), which rose 6.64% or 141.00 points to trade at 2,263.50 at the close. Antofagasta PLC (LON:ANTO) added 6.30% or 115.00 points to end at 1,940.00 and Rio Tinto PLC (LON:RIO) was up 4.55% or 219.50 points to 5,049.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Smiths Group PLC (LON:SMIN), which fell 5.22% or 95.00 points to trade at 1,725.00 in late trade. Vistry Group PLC (LON:VTYV) declined 1.85% or 25.00 points to end at 1,327.00 and Coca Cola HBC AG (LON:CCH) down 1.47% or 40.00 points to 2,688.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones by 940 to 848 and 680 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.78% or 20.70 to $2,673.20 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 1.36% or 0.96 to hit $71.33 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 1.41% or 1.03 to trade at $74.24 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.32% to 1.34, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.10% to 0.83.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.28% at 100.28.
