Investing.com – United Kingdom equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the FTSE 350 Beverages, FTSE 350 Life Insurance and FTSE 350 Industrial Transportation sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.24%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were JD Sports Fashion PLC (LON:JD), which rose 4.01% or 3.78 points to trade at 97.94 at the close. Intermediate Capital Group PLC (LON:ICGIN) added 3.80% or 78.00 points to end at 2,132.00 and Antofagasta PLC (LON:ANTO) was up 3.24% or 51.50 points to 1,642.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included WPP PLC (LON:WPP), which fell 2.90% or 23.60 points to trade at 790.40 in late trade. Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON:RR) declined 2.56% or 15.00 points to end at 570.00 and Unilever PLC (LON:ULVR) down 2.48% or 113.00 points to 4,448.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones by 1002 to 707 and 682 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.15% or 4.04 to $2,650.66 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 0.20% or 0.15 to hit $74.11 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 0.26% or 0.20 to trade at $76.71 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.71% to 1.25, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.04% to 0.83.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.59% at 108.15.
