Investing.com – United Kingdom equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the FTSE 350 - Real Estate Investment Trusts REITs, FTSE 350 Real Estate and FTSE 350 Food & Drug Retailers sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.19%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Airtel Africa Plc (LON:AAF), which rose 5.16% or 5.15 points to trade at 105.00 at the close. Vistry Group PLC (LON:VTYV) added 2.66% or 17.50 points to end at 675.00 and Londonmetric Property Plc (LON:LMPL) was up 2.26% or 4.30 points to 194.30 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Smurfit WestRock PLC (LON:SWR), which fell 3.19% or 141.00 points to trade at 4,274.00 in late trade. Entain PLC (LON:ENT) declined 2.61% or 21.00 points to end at 783.20 and DS Smith PLC (LON:SMDS) down 2.02% or 12.00 points to 582.00.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones by 908 to 842 and 696 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.73% or 19.21 to $2,665.51 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 0.45% or 0.31 to hit $68.46 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 0.54% or 0.39 to trade at $71.93 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.88% to 1.27, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.00% to 0.83.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.99% at 105.91.
