Investing.com – United Kingdom equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the FTSE 350 Mining, FTSE 350 Household Goods and FTSE 350 General Industrials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.18%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were DS Smith PLC (LON:SMDS), which rose 2.45% or 11.20 points to trade at 468.00 at the close. Vistry Group PLC (LON:VTYV) added 2.44% or 22.00 points to end at 923.00 and Mondi PLC (LON:MNDI) was up 2.30% or 33.00 points to 1,467.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included J Sainsbury PLC (LON:SBRY), which fell 5.90% or 17.00 points to trade at 271.00 in late trade. Prudential PLC (LON:PRU) declined 1.72% or 11.80 points to end at 676.40 and GSK plc (LON:GSK) down 1.66% or 25.00 points to 1,480.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones by 938 to 771 and 737 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 1.43% or 37.80 to $2,677.10 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 0.75% or 0.57 to hit $75.28 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 0.65% or 0.52 to trade at $78.88 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.10% to 1.31, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.05% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.12% at 102.65.
