Investing.com – United Kingdom equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the FTSE 350 - Industrial Metals & Mining, FTSE 350 Beverages and FTSE 350 Industrial Engineering sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.17%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL), which rose 6.16% or 141.50 points to trade at 2,439.50 at the close. Prudential PLC (LON:PRU) added 6.14% or 39.40 points to end at 681.60 and Antofagasta PLC (LON:ANTO) was up 5.78% or 111.00 points to 2,031.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Shell PLC (LON:SHEL), which fell 4.62% or 117.00 points to trade at 2,415.00 in late trade. BP PLC (LON:BP) declined 4.10% or 16.40 points to end at 383.85 and British American Tobacco PLC (LON:BATS) down 2.82% or 80.00 points to 2,762.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones by 1182 to 651 and 638 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
Shares in BP PLC (LON:BP) fell to 52-week lows; falling 4.10% or 16.40 to 383.85.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.19% or 5.05 to $2,689.75 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 2.30% or 1.60 to hit $68.09 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 2.00% or 1.46 to trade at $71.44 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.63% to 1.34, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.30% to 0.83.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.28% at 100.34.
