Investing.com – United Kingdom equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the FTSE 350 Aerospace & Defense, FTSE 350 Equity Investment Instruments and FTSE 350 Construction & Building Materials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.15%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Melrose Industries PLC (LON:MRON), which rose 6.64% or 30.00 points to trade at 481.90 at the close. Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON:RR) added 5.57% or 24.70 points to end at 468.50 and Scottish Mortgage Investment Trust PLC (LON:SMT) was up 4.95% or 38.00 points to 806.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Rightmove PLC (LON:RMV), which fell 4.34% or 23.80 points to trade at 524.20 in late trade. Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES) declined 3.09% or 17.00 points to end at 533.00 and Entain PLC (LON:ENT) down 3.08% or 16.00 points to 503.60.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones by 1124 to 741 and 617 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
Shares in Entain PLC (LON:ENT) fell to 3-year lows; falling 3.08% or 16.00 to 503.60.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.67% or 16.35 to $2,428.05 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 1.03% or 0.75 to hit $73.69 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 0.89% or 0.68 to trade at $76.98 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.66% to 1.27, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.43% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.34% at 102.83.
