Investing.com – United Kingdom equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the FTSE 350 Tobacco, FTSE 350 Food & Drug Retailers and FTSE 350 Health Care Equipment & Services sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.01%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were British American Tobacco PLC (LON:BATS), which rose 4.72% or 142.00 points to trade at 3,150.00 at the close. ConvaTec Group PLC (LON:CTEC) added 3.76% or 9.00 points to end at 248.40 and GSK plc (LON:GSK) was up 3.35% or 45.50 points to 1,402.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL), which fell 6.21% or 157.50 points to trade at 2,378.00 in late trade. Scottish Mortgage Investment Trust PLC (LON:SMT) declined 5.15% or 54.50 points to end at 1,004.50 and Glencore PLC (LON:GLEN) down 3.70% or 13.90 points to 361.50.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones by 1041 to 754 and 608 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
Shares in British American Tobacco PLC (LON:BATS) rose to 52-week highs; up 4.72% or 142.00 to 3,150.00.
Gold Futures for April delivery was down 1.53% or 43.06 to $2,763.54 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 2.93% or 2.19 to hit $72.47 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 2.54% or 1.97 to trade at $75.58 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.01% to 1.25, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.02% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.05% at 107.19.
