Investing.com -- United Kingdom (TADAWUL:4280) has demanded that Apple Inc (NASDAQ:AAPL) create a back door allowing them to retrieve all the content Apple users worldwide have uploaded to the cloud, The Washington Post reported on Friday, citing people familiar with the matter.

An undisclosed order by the British government last month demanded ability to access fully encrypted material in bulk, rather than just providing assistance to crack a specific account, the report said.

In response to this demand, Apple is likely to cease offering encrypted storage in the UK to maintain its security promises to its users everywhere, it added.

However, this action would not satisfy the UK’s demand for backdoor access to the service in other countries, including the United States, according to the report.
