Turkey shares lower at close of trade; BIST 100 down 2.64%

Investing.com – Turkey equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Banking , Telecoms and Electricity sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Istanbul, the BIST 100 lost 2.64% to hit a new 3-month low.

The biggest gainers of the session on the BIST 100 were Fenerbahce Futbol AS (IS: FENER ), which rose 2.02% or 0.14 points to trade at 7.06 at the close. Teknosa Ic ve Dis Ticaret AS (IS: TKNSA ) added 1.68% or 0.050 points to end at 3.020 and ENKA Insaat ve Sanayi AS (IS: ENKAI ) was up 1.31% or 0.060 points to 4.640 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Bizim Toptan Satis Magazalari AS (IS: BIZIM ), which lost 6.62% or 0.45 points to trade at 6.35 in late trade. Turkiye Is Bankasi AS Class C (IS: ISCTR ) declined 5.52% or 0.250 points to end at 4.280 and Akbank TAS (IS: AKBNK ) shed 5.10% or 0.35 points to 6.51.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 294 to 83 and 28 ended unchanged on the Istanbul Stock Exchange.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.51% or 6.55 to $1287.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 3.04% or 1.38 to hit $46.79 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 3.20% or 1.72 to trade at $55.52 a barrel.

USD/TRY was up 1.78% to 5.3865, while EUR/TRY rose 0.84% to 6.1173.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.64% at 96.352.
