Turkey shares higher at close of trade; BIST 100 up 1.76%

Investing.com – Turkey equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Banking , Basic Metals and Telecoms sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Istanbul, the BIST 100 rose 1.76% to hit a new 3-month high.

The biggest gainers of the session on the BIST 100 were Yapi ve Kredi Bankasi AS (IS: YKBNK ), which rose 6.78% or 0.120 points to trade at 1.890 at the close. Galatasaray Sportif Sinai ve Ticari Yatirimlar AS (IS: GSRAY ) added 6.25% or 0.08 points to end at 1.36 and Vakif Gayrimenkul Yatirim Ortakligi AS (IS: VKGYO ) was up 5.36% or 0.120 points to 2.360 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Ihlas Holding AS (IS: IHLAS ), which lost 3.13% or 0.010 points to trade at 0.310 in late trade. Turkiye Sise ve Cam Fabrikalari AS (IS: SISE ) declined 1.72% or 0.100 points to end at 5.700 and Coca-Cola Icecek AS (IS: CCOLA ) shed 1.55% or 0.52 points to 32.98.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 228 to 108 and 71 ended unchanged on the Istanbul Stock Exchange.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.17% or 2.15 to $1280.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 3.22% or 1.74 to hit $52.30 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 2.82% or 1.77 to trade at $60.97 a barrel.

USD/TRY was up 0.36% to 5.3412, while EUR/TRY rose 0.35% to 6.0690.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.04% at 95.953.
