Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the , Optoelectronic and Oil, Gas & Electricity sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted lost 0.52%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Kpt Industries (TW:1805), which rose 10.00% or 1.10 points to trade at 12.10 at the close. Tung Kai Tech (TW:3018) added 8.66% or 2.35 points to end at 29.50 and Waffer Tech (TW:6235) was up 7.29% or 1.55 points to 22.80 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Leadtek (TW:2465), which lost 9.96% or 0.71 points to trade at 6.42 in late trade. Tai-I (TW:1613) declined 9.90% or 0.310 points to end at 2.820 and Genius (TW:3406) shed 8.79% or 27.00 points to 280.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 451 to 317 and 107 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for May delivery was down 0.22% or 0.11 to $51.04 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in June fell 0.17% or 0.09 to hit $54.27 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract rose 0.52% or 6.45 to trade at $1254.95 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.49% to 30.540, while TWD/CNY rose 0.09% to 0.2268.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.10% at 100.36.
