Sri Lanka shares lower at close of trade; CSE All-Share down 0.09%

Investing.com – Sri Lanka equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Plantations , Beverages & Tobacco and Investment Trust sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share fell 0.09%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the CSE All-Share were Nanda Investments and Finance PLC (CM: NAND ), which rose 24.01% or 9.70 points to trade at 50.10 at the close. J L Morison Sons & Jones (Ceylon) PLC (CM: MORI ) added 22.92% or 97.70 points to end at 524.00 and Odel PLC (CM: ODEL ) was up 13.92% or 3.30 points to 27.00 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Swadeshi Industrial Works PLC (CM: SWAD ), which lost 24.07% or 3250.00 points to trade at 10250.00 in late trade. Union Chemicals Lanka PLC (CM: UCHE ) declined 23.98% or 143.90 points to end at 456.20 and Anilana Hotels & Properties Ltd (CM: ANIL ) shed 17.65% or 0.300 points to 1.400.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 104 to 80 and 64 ended unchanged on the Colombo Stock Exchange.

In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was down 0.41% or 0.18 to $44.06 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September fell 0.17% or 0.08 to hit $46.84 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract rose 0.57% or 7.15 to trade at $1254.05 a troy ounce.

GBP/LKR was up 0.39% to 196.805, while USD/LKR rose 0.10% to 153.440.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.22% at 95.97.
