Investing.com – Spain equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Financial Services & Real Estate, Telecoms & IT and Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 declined 2.62%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Gamesa (MC:GAM), which rose 2.32% or 0.390 points to trade at 17.195 at the close. Obrascon Huarte Lain (MC:OHL) added 0.60% or 0.037 points to end at 6.181 and Red Electrica Corp. (MC:REE) was up 0.50% or 0.390 points to 77.970 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Int.Airl.Grp (MC:ICAG), which lost 5.30% or 0.376 points to trade at 6.715 in late trade. BBVA (MC:BBVA) declined 4.78% or 0.300 points to end at 5.983 and Banco Popular (MC:POP) shed 4.77% or 0.119 points to 2.375.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 153 to 53 and 18 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was up 2.26% or 28.65 to $1295.05 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 0.43% or 0.20 to hit $45.83 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 1.03% or 0.49 to trade at $47.28 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.77% to 1.1439, while EUR/GBP rose 0.67% to 0.7823.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.63% at 93.14.
