Investing.com – Spain equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Madrid Consumer Goods, Madrid Financial Services & Real Estate and Madrid Technology and Telecommunications sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 declined 0.24%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Laboratorios Farmaceuticos ROVI (BME:ROVI), which rose 2.23% or 1.40 points to trade at 64.10 at the close. SOLARIA ENERGIA Y MEDIO AMBIENTE (BME:SLRS) added 1.84% or 0.17 points to end at 9.13 and Merlin Properties SA (BME:MRL) was up 1.47% or 0.15 points to 10.34 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Grifols SA (BME:GRLS), which fell 9.08% or 0.97 points to trade at 9.69 in late trade. Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria SA (BME:BBVA) declined 1.70% or 0.15 points to end at 8.79 and Industria de Diseno Textil SA (BME:ITX) down 1.44% or 0.76 points to 51.90.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones by 122 to 79 and 20 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.69% or 18.36 to $2,664.66 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 0.51% or 0.35 to hit $68.42 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 0.55% or 0.40 to trade at $71.92 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.88% to 1.06, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.00% to 0.83.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.98% at 105.92.
