Investing.com – Spain equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Madrid Petrol and Power, Madrid Basic Materials Industry and Construction and Madrid Consumer Goods sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 declined 0.12%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Mapfre (BME:MAP), which rose 2.23% or 0.05 points to trade at 2.38 at the close. Telefonica (BME:TEF) added 1.27% or 0.06 points to end at 4.40 and Aena SME SA (BME:AENA) was up 1.24% or 2.40 points to 196.70 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Naturgy Energy Group SA (BME:NTGY), which fell 2.43% or 0.56 points to trade at 22.44 in late trade. Grifols SA (BME:GRLS) declined 2.19% or 0.22 points to end at 10.04 and Enagas (BME:ENAG) down 2.06% or 0.29 points to 13.79.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones by 98 to 93 and 21 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
Shares in Mapfre (BME:MAP) rose to 3-year highs; gaining 2.23% or 0.05 to 2.38. Shares in Aena SME SA (BME:AENA) rose to all time highs; rising 1.24% or 2.40 to 196.70.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.18% or 4.65 to $2,597.05 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 0.59% or 0.41 to hit $69.55 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 0.61% or 0.45 to trade at $73.25 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.06% to 1.11, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.24% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.02% at 100.59.
