Investing.com – Spain equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Madrid Consumer Goods, Madrid Technology and Telecommunications and Madrid Petrol and Power sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 added 1.42% to hit a new 5-year high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Amadeus IT (BME:AMA), which rose 3.15% or 2.12 points to trade at 69.44 at the close. Industria de Diseno Textil SA (BME:ITX) added 3.09% or 1.50 points to end at 50.10 and Banco de Sabadell SA (BME:SABE) was up 1.80% or 0.04 points to 2.26 in late trade.
Biggest losers included SOLARIA ENERGIA Y MEDIO AMBIENTE (BME:SLRS), which fell 1.33% or 0.10 points to trade at 7.44 in late trade. Grifols SA (BME:GRLS) declined 1.16% or 0.10 points to end at 8.55 and ACS Actividades de Construccion y Servicios SA (BME:ACS) down 1.15% or 0.56 points to 47.94.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones by 124 to 72 and 20 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
Shares in SOLARIA ENERGIA Y MEDIO AMBIENTE (BME:SLRS) fell to 3-year lows; falling 1.33% or 0.10 to 7.44. Shares in Banco de Sabadell SA (BME:SABE) rose to 5-year highs; gaining 1.80% or 0.04 to 2.26.
Gold Futures for April delivery was up 1.03% or 28.39 to $2,794.59 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 0.03% or 0.02 to hit $73.19 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 0.05% or 0.04 to trade at $76.14 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.61% to 1.04, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.08% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.56% at 107.76.
