Investing.com – Spain equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Madrid Consumer Goods, Madrid Financial Services & Real Estate and Madrid Consumer Services sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 added 0.99% to hit a new 5-year high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Caixabank SA (BME:CABK), which rose 2.96% or 0.17 points to trade at 5.91 at the close. Mapfre (BME:MAP) added 2.89% or 0.08 points to end at 2.71 and Unicaja Banco SA (BME:UNI) was up 2.87% or 0.04 points to 1.40 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Corporacion Acciona Energias Renovables SA (BME:ANE), which fell 1.50% or 0.27 points to trade at 17.79 in late trade. Inmobiliaria Colonial SA (BME:COL) declined 1.40% or 0.08 points to end at 5.29 and Ferrovial (BME:FER) down 1.10% or 0.46 points to 41.22.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones by 113 to 77 and 21 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.

Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.01% or 0.14 to $2,794.74 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 0.79% or 0.58 to hit $73.19 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 0.50% or 0.38 to trade at $76.11 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.09% to 1.04, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.06% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.09% at 107.78.
