Investing.com – Spain equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Madrid Financial Services & Real Estate, Madrid Consumer Goods and Madrid Consumer Services sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 rose 0.80% to hit a new 5-year high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Caixabank SA (BME:CABK), which rose 3.87% or 0.19 points to trade at 5.21 at the close. Bankinter (BME:BKT) added 2.94% or 0.22 points to end at 7.83 and Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria SA (BME:BBVA) was up 2.60% or 0.25 points to 9.80 in late trade.
Biggest losers included SOLARIA ENERGIA Y MEDIO AMBIENTE (BME:SLRS), which fell 2.97% or 0.36 points to trade at 11.77 in late trade. Corporacion Acciona Energias Renovables SA (BME:ANE) declined 1.99% or 0.44 points to end at 21.62 and Grifols SA (BME:GRLS) down 1.70% or 0.16 points to 9.36.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones by 107 to 93 and 25 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.73% or 17.35 to $2,392.85 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 2.09% or 1.55 to hit $75.62 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 1.95% or 1.53 to trade at $79.94 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.13% to 1.09, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.20% to 0.85.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.01% at 104.21.
