Investing.com – Russia equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the MOEX Oil and Gas, MOEX Metals and Mining and MOEX Telecommunication sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MOEX Russia Index fell 1.67% to hit a new 52-week low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MOEX Russia Index were Polyus PJSC (MCX:PLZL), which rose 4.02% or 526.00 points to trade at 13,600.00 at the close. TATNEFT n.a. V.D. Shashin Pref (MCX:TATN_p) added 1.80% or 9.80 points to end at 553.70 and Moskovskiy Kreditnyi Bank PAO (MCX:CBOM) was up 1.79% or 0.14 points to 8.06 in late trade.
Biggest losers included LUKOIL PJSC (MCX:LKOH), which fell 7.15% or 485.00 points to trade at 6,294.50 in late trade. Severstal PJSC (MCX:CHMF) declined 3.60% or 38.00 points to end at 1,016.40 and OK Rusal MKPAO (MCX:RUAL) down 2.63% or 0.78 points to 28.85.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones by 139 to 101 and 13 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
Shares in Severstal PJSC (MCX:CHMF) fell to 52-week lows; down 3.60% or 38.00 to 1,016.40. Shares in OK Rusal MKPAO (MCX:RUAL) fell to 3-year lows; falling 2.63% or 0.78 to 28.85.
The Russian Volatility Index – RVI, which measures the implied volatility of MOEX Russia Index options, was down 1.97% to 48.38.
Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.32% or 8.51 to $2,661.49 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 1.36% or 0.96 to hit $69.75 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 0.89% or 0.66 to trade at $73.25 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.97% to 104.60, while EUR/RUB rose 0.77% to 109.72.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.10% at 106.67.
