Investing.com – Russia equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the MOEX Telecommunication, MOEX Metals and Mining and MOEX Electric Utilities sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MOEX Russia Index declined 0.95%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MOEX Russia Index were Magnit PJSC (MCX:MGNT), which rose 3.58% or 158.50 points to trade at 4,582.50 at the close. Surgutneftegas PJSC (MCX:SNGS) added 2.95% or 0.70 points to end at 24.42 and Aeroflot PJSC (MCX:AFLT) was up 2.68% or 1.56 points to 59.71 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Transneft PJSC Pref (MCX:TRNF_p), which fell 4.55% or 52.00 points to trade at 1,092.00 in late trade. Magnitogorskiy Metallurgicheskiy Kombinat PAO (MCX:MAGN) declined 3.19% or 1.10 points to end at 33.42 and Moskovskiy Kreditnyi Bank PAO (MCX:CBOM) down 2.34% or 0.16 points to 6.85.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones by 174 to 71 and 11 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
Shares in Transneft PJSC Pref (MCX:TRNF_p) fell to 52-week lows; losing 4.55% or 52.00 to 1,092.00. Shares in Magnitogorskiy Metallurgicheskiy Kombinat PAO (MCX:MAGN) fell to 52-week lows; losing 3.19% or 1.10 to 33.42.
The Russian Volatility Index – RVI, which measures the implied volatility of MOEX Russia Index options, was up 1.38% to 45.70 a new 52-week high.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.74% or 19.55 to $2,671.25 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 1.98% or 1.36 to hit $70.11 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 1.96% or 1.43 to trade at $74.24 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.70% to 101.30, while EUR/RUB rose 0.04% to 106.11.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.37% at 107.01.
