Investing.com – Russia equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the MOEX Metals and Mining, MOEX Telecommunication and MOEX Electric Utilities sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MOEX Russia Index lost 0.67%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MOEX Russia Index were Gazprom PJSC (MCX:GAZP), which rose 0.23% or 0.32 points to trade at 140.79 at the close. Moskovskaya Birzha PJSC (MCX:MOEX) added 0.07% or 0.14 points to end at 204.99 and LUKOIL PJSC (MCX:LKOH) was up 0.07% or 5.00 points to 7,171.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Severstal PJSC (MCX:CHMF), which fell 5.31% or 68.00 points to trade at 1,211.60 in late trade. AFK Sistema PJSC (MCX:AFKS) declined 2.96% or 0.44 points to end at 14.48 and ADS Ozon Holdings PLC ORD SHS (MCX:OZONDR) down 2.91% or 105.50 points to 3,514.00.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones by 189 to 54 and 11 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian Volatility Index – RVI, which measures the implied volatility of MOEX Russia Index options, was up 3.21% to 35.39.
Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.43% or 12.16 to $2,833.04 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 1.21% or 0.88 to hit $73.61 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 0.76% or 0.58 to trade at $76.47 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.07% to 98.57, while EUR/RUB fell 0.20% to 102.13.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.64% at 108.32.
