Russia shares lower at close of trade; MOEX Russia down 0.30%

Investing.com – Russia equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Oil & Gas , Power and Telecoms sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Moscow, the MOEX Russia declined 0.30%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the MOEX Russia were NPK OVK PAO (MCX: UWGN ), which rose 16.14% or 72.6 points to trade at 522.5 at the close. NMTP (MCX: NMTP ) added 2.22% or 0.1550 points to end at 7.1500 and X5 Retail Group NV (MCX: FIVEDR ) was up 1.88% or 33.0 points to 1793.0 in late trade.

Biggest losers included NK Rosneft PAO (MCX: ROSN ), which lost 1.62% or 6.95 points to trade at 421.55 in late trade. VTB (MCX: VTBR ) declined 1.57% or 0.0006 points to end at 0.0376 and NOVATEK (MCX: NVTK ) shed 1.49% or 17.00 points to 1126.40.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 132 to 97 and 14 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.

The Russian VIX , which measures the implied volatility of MOEX Russia options, was down 0.92% to 21.620.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.23% or 3.05 to $1316.15 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 0.88% or 0.47 to hit $54.13 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 1.05% or 0.65 to trade at $62.63 a barrel.

USD/RUB was up 0.22% to 65.7641, while EUR/RUB fell 0.07% to 74.8300.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.20% at 96.012.
