Investing.com – Russia equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the MOEX Electric Utilities, MOEX Telecommunication and MOEX Oil and Gas sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MOEX Russia lost 0.01%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MOEX Russia were Moskovskiy Kreditnyi Bank OAO (MCX:CBOM), which rose 2.94% or 0.22 points to trade at 7.77 at the close. Ros Agro PLC (MCX:AGRODR) added 2.21% or 31.00 points to end at 1,436.00 and Polyus PAO (MCX:PLZL) was up 1.82% or 217.00 points to 12,109.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Bank VTB PAO (MCX:VTBR), which unchanged 1.89% or 0.00 points to trade at 0.02 in late trade. Rostelekom PAO (MCX:RTKM) declined 1.85% or 1.72 points to end at 91.03 and Aeroflot (MCX:AFLT) down 1.76% or 1.13 points to 63.07.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones by 171 to 72 and 9 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MOEX Russia options, was down 0.60% to 23.03.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 1.10% or 25.50 to $2,338.70 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 1.12% or 0.91 to hit $81.81 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.20% or 0.17 to trade at $85.44 a barrel.
USD/RUB was unchanged 0.00% to 85.00, while EUR/RUB rose 0.01% to 90.99.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.11% at 105.60.
