Russia shares higher at close of trade; MOEX Russia up 1.37%

Investing.com – Russia equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Telecoms , Oil & Gas and Power sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Moscow, the MOEX Russia added 1.37%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the MOEX Russia were VTB (MCX: VTBR ), which rose 5.64% or 0.0020 points to trade at 0.0382 at the close. NMTP (MCX: NMTP ) added 3.33% or 0.2100 points to end at 6.5250 and MTS (MCX: MTSS ) was up 2.63% or 6.95 points to 270.95 in late trade.

Biggest losers included MegaFon OAO (MCX: MFON ), which lost 1.97% or 12.00 points to trade at 596.50 in late trade. Aeroflot (MCX: AFLT ) declined 1.76% or 1.80 points to end at 100.60 and Surgut-pref (MCX: SNGS_p ) shed 1.32% or 0.510 points to 37.990.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 120 to 85 and 22 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.

The Russian VIX , which measures the implied volatility of MOEX Russia options, was up 2.86% to 27.670.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.38% or 4.70 to $1228.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 1.06% or 0.66 to hit $61.55 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 0.44% or 0.32 to trade at $71.81 a barrel.

USD/RUB was up 0.01% to 66.1385, while EUR/RUB rose 0.49% to 75.8700.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.39% at 95.74.
