Investing.com – Russia equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the MOEX Electric Utilities, MOEX Telecommunication and MOEX Oil and Gas sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MOEX Russia gained 1.19%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MOEX Russia were AFK Sistema (MCX:AFKS), which rose 7.00% or 1.76 points to trade at 26.98 at the close. Ozon Holdings PLC (MCX:OZONDR) added 5.06% or 223.00 points to end at 4,631.00 and FSK EES (MCX:FEES) was unchanged 4.32% or 0.00 points to 0.11 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Polyus PAO (MCX:PLZL), which fell 1.83% or 231.00 points to trade at 12,367.50 in late trade. FGK Rusgidro PAO (MCX:HYDR) declined 0.92% or 0.01 points to end at 0.65 and OK Rusal MKPAO (MCX:RUAL) down 0.71% or 0.30 points to 42.22.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones by 225 to 21 and 6 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MOEX Russia options, was up 4.27% to 23.22.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 3.33% or 79.70 to $2,311.20 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 0.23% or 0.17 to hit $75.38 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 0.41% or 0.33 to trade at $79.54 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.57% to 89.35, while EUR/RUB fell 1.11% to 96.19.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.82% at 104.92.
