Investing.com – Russia equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the MOEX Electric Utilities, MOEX Oil and Gas and MOEX Metals and Mining sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MOEX Russia added 0.75%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MOEX Russia were AFK Sistema (MCX:AFKS), which rose 4.35% or 0.98 points to trade at 23.60 at the close. AK Transneft OAO Pref (MCX:TRNF_p) added 2.73% or 38.00 points to end at 1,411.00 and Surgutneftegaz PAO (MCX:SNGS) was up 2.10% or 0.61 points to 29.43 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Magnit (MCX:MGNT), which fell 1.75% or 105.50 points to trade at 5,934.00 in late trade. Ros Agro PLC (MCX:AGRODR) declined 1.25% or 17.60 points to end at 1,388.20 and Severstal - ao (MCX:CHMF) down 1.16% or 17.00 points to 1,448.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones by 142 to 102 and 7 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MOEX Russia options, was down 1.39% to 24.83.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.40% or 9.70 to $2,397.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 0.70% or 0.54 to hit $77.50 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.04% or 0.03 to trade at $81.50 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.01% to 86.24, while EUR/RUB unchanged 0.00% to 93.49.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.09% at 104.08.
