Investing.com – Russia equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the MOEX Metals and Mining, MOEX Electric Utilities and MOEX Oil and Gas sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MOEX Russia Index gained 0.30%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MOEX Russia Index were PhosAgro PJSC (MCX:PHOR), which rose 4.46% or 249.00 points to trade at 5,833.00 at the close. Moskovskaya Birzha PJSC (MCX:MOEX) added 3.72% or 6.88 points to end at 191.76 and OK Rusal MKPAO (MCX:RUAL) was up 3.53% or 1.23 points to 35.89 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Aeroflot PJSC (MCX:AFLT), which fell 3.14% or 1.64 points to trade at 50.51 in late trade. PIK SHb PJSC (MCX:PIKK) declined 2.17% or 9.10 points to end at 410.30 and Mobil’nye Telesistemy PJSC (MCX:MTSS) down 2.15% or 3.90 points to 177.75.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones by 184 to 65 and 6 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian Volatility Index – RVI, which measures the implied volatility of MOEX Russia Index options, was down 1.41% to 48.39.
Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.77% or 20.60 to $2,660.40 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 0.24% or 0.16 to hit $68.16 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 0.11% or 0.08 to trade at $71.92 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 0.69% to 106.50, while EUR/RUB fell 1.31% to 111.82.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.52% at 106.38.
