Portugal shares lower at close of trade; PSI down 1.13%

Investing.com – Portugal equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the PSI Utilities Gross Return, PSI Basic Materials Gross Return and PSI Consumer Goods Gross Return sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Lisbon, the PSI lost 1.13%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the PSI were Ren Redes Energeticas Nacionais SGPS SA (ELI:RENE), which rose 2.16% or 0.05 points to trade at 2.37 at the close. Semapa (ELI:SEM) added 1.20% or 0.18 points to end at 15.20 and Ibersol SGPS (ELI:IBS) was up 0.27% or 0.02 points to 7.30 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Mota Engil SGPS SA (ELI:MOTA), which fell 3.48% or 0.13 points to trade at 3.72 in late trade. EDP Renovaveis (ELI:EDPR) declined 1.98% or 0.29 points to end at 14.38 and The Navigator Company SA (ELI:NVGR) down 1.82% or 0.07 points to 3.67.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones by 14 to 13 and 7 ended unchanged on the Lisbon Stock Exchange.

Brent oil for August delivery was down 0.39% or 0.31 to $79.56 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 0.17% or 0.13 to hit $75.42 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract fell 2.81% or 67.10 to trade at $2,323.80 a troy ounce.

EUR/USD was down 0.72% to 1.08, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.23% to 0.85.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.74% at 104.82.
