Portugal shares lower at close of trade; PSI 20 down 0.28%

Investing.com – Portugal equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Industrials , Basic Materials and Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 fell 0.28% to hit a new 52-week low.

The biggest gainers of the session on the PSI 20 were EDP (LS: EDP ), which rose 1.77% or 0.0540 points to trade at 3.1100 at the close. Mota Engil (LS: MOTA ) added 1.68% or 0.0260 points to end at 1.5720 and Corticeira Amorim (LS: CORA ) was up 1.30% or 0.120 points to 9.340 in late trade.

Biggest losers included J. Martins SGPS (LS: JMT ), which lost 4.16% or 0.4400 points to trade at 10.1400 in late trade. CTT Correios de Portugal SA (LS: CTT ) declined 3.99% or 0.1320 points to end at 3.1760 and Sonae SGPS SA (LS: YSO ) shed 2.26% or 0.0185 points to 0.8000.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 15 to 14 and 7 ended unchanged on the Lisbon Stock Exchange.

In commodities trading, Brent oil for February delivery was up 0.67% or 0.40 to $60.37 a barrel. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 1.24% or 0.63 to hit $51.63 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to trade at $1249.40 a troy ounce.

EUR/USD was down 0.29% to 1.1322, while EUR/GBP fell 0.08% to 0.9034.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.20% at 97.382.
