Investing.com – Portugal equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the PSI Telecommunications Gross Return, PSI Financials Gross Return and PSI Consumer Goods Gross Return sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI gained 1.04%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the PSI were Jeronimo Martins SGPS SA (ELI:JMT), which rose 5.62% or 0.86 points to trade at 16.15 at the close. Sonae SGPS SA (ELI:YSO) added 2.39% or 0.02 points to end at 0.94 and Mota Engil SGPS SA (ELI:MOTA) was up 2.14% or 0.08 points to 3.63 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Nos SGPS SA (ELI:NOS), which fell 0.84% or 0.03 points to trade at 3.56 in late trade. Ren Redes Energeticas Nacionais SGPS SA (ELI:RENE) declined 0.64% or 0.02 points to end at 2.35 and Corticeira Amorim (ELI:CORA) down 0.55% or 0.05 points to 9.10.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones by 17 to 14 and 4 ended unchanged on the Lisbon Stock Exchange.
Brent oil for October delivery was up 3.04% or 2.37 to $80.44 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 3.55% or 2.65 to hit $77.38 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.66% or 16.20 to trade at $2,468.10 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.02% to 1.08, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.01% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.35% at 103.95.
