Investing.com – Portugal equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the PSI Telecommunications Gross Return, PSI Financials Gross Return and PSI Basic Materials Gross Return sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI gained 0.23%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the PSI were Altri SGPS SA (ELI:ALSS), which rose 2.46% or 0.14 points to trade at 5.83 at the close. Banco Comercial Portugues (ELI:BCP) added 1.85% or 0.01 points to end at 0.52 and Nos SGPS SA (ELI:NOS) was up 1.36% or 0.05 points to 3.35 in late trade.
Biggest losers included EDP Renovaveis (ELI:EDPR), which fell 1.59% or 0.14 points to trade at 8.68 in late trade. EDP Energias de Portugal SA (ELI:EDP) declined 1.35% or 0.04 points to end at 2.92 and Galp Energia Nom (ELI:GALP) down 0.80% or 0.14 points to 16.76.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones by 14 to 13 and 2 ended unchanged on the Lisbon Stock Exchange.
Shares in Altri SGPS SA (ELI:ALSS) rose to all time highs; gaining 2.46% or 0.14 to 5.83. Shares in EDP Renovaveis (ELI:EDPR) fell to 3-year lows; falling 1.59% or 0.14 to 8.68. Shares in Banco Comercial Portugues (ELI:BCP) rose to 5-year highs; up 1.85% or 0.01 to 0.52. Shares in EDP Energias de Portugal SA (ELI:EDP) fell to 5-year lows; down 1.35% or 0.04 to 2.92.
Brent oil for March delivery was down 0.89% or 0.70 to $78.30 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 0.98% or 0.74 to hit $74.70 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract fell 0.30% or 8.39 to trade at $2,762.51 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.11% to 1.04, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.17% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.06% at 107.90.
