Investing.com – Portugal equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Industrials, Utilities and Financials sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 rose 0.98%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the PSI 20 were Mota Engil (LS:MOTA), which rose 5.44% or 0.1550 points to trade at 3.0050 at the close. EDP Renovaveis (LS:EDPR) added 2.00% or 0.1800 points to end at 9.1700 and Semapa (LS:SEM) was up 1.58% or 0.3500 points to 22.5500 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Ibersol SGPS (LS:IBS), which lost 1.27% or 0.150 points to trade at 11.650 in late trade. Altri SGPS (LS:ALSS) declined 0.23% or 0.0200 points to end at 8.5800 and REN (LS:RENE) gained 0.08% or 0.0020 points to 2.4500.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 23 to 6 and 6 ended unchanged on the Lisbon Stock Exchange.

In commodities trading, Brent oil for September delivery was down 0.24% or 0.19 to $78.05 a barrel. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 1.24% or 0.92 to hit $73.22 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract rose 0.41% or 5.10 to trade at $1258.60 a troy ounce.

EUR/USD was up 0.33% to 1.1694, while EUR/GBP rose 0.43% to 0.8848.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.08% at 94.11.
