Nigeria shares lower at close of trade; NSE 30 down 0.97%
Credit: © Reuters. – Nigeria equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Food, Beverages & Tobacco , Banking and Insurance sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 lost 0.97% to hit a new 6-month low.

The biggest gainers of the session on the NSE 30 were Wemabank (LAGOS: WEMABAN ), which rose 9.68% or 0.060 points to trade at 0.620 at the close. Dangsugar (LAGOS: DANGSUG ) added 6.56% or 1.20 points to end at 17.75 and Guaranty Bnk (LAGOS: GUARANT ) was up 3.97% or 1.45 points to 37.30 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Nestle Nig (LAGOS: NESTLE ), which lost 5.55% or 84.70 points to trade at 1410.50 in late trade. Uacn Prop (LAGOS: UACN ) declined 5.36% or 0.75 points to end at 13.50 and Fbn Holdings (LAGOS: FBNH ) shed 4.86% or 0.450 points to 8.800.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 59 to 30 and 10 ended unchanged on the Lagos.

In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was down 0.03% or 0.02 to $67.73 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September fell 1.21% or 0.88 to hit $72.02 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract fell 0.37% or 4.50 to trade at $1223.40 a troy ounce.

EUR/NGN was up 18.12% to 419.470, while USD/NGN fell 0.14% to 360.500.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.11% at 94.94.
