Nigeria shares lower at close of trade; NSE 30 down 0.78%
Credit: © Reuters. – Nigeria equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Banking , Insurance and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 declined 0.78%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the NSE 30 were Guiness Nig (LAGOS: GUINNES ), which rose 5.56% or 5.00 points to trade at 94.15 at the close. Fbn Holdings (LAGOS: FBNH ) added 1.11% or 0.100 points to end at 9.050 and Unilever Nig (LAGOS: UNILEVE ) was unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 points to 50.00 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Nestle Nig (LAGOS: NESTLE ), which lost 9.51% or 142.70 points to trade at 1357.30 in late trade. Diamond Bank (LAGOS: DIAMONB ) declined 9.35% or 0.130 points to end at 1.260 and Pz Cussons LG (LAGOS: PZ ) shed 9.33% or 1.40 points to 13.60.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 55 to 32 and 17 ended unchanged on the Lagos.

In commodities trading, Crude oil for October delivery was up 0.82% or 0.57 to $70.08 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in November rose 0.66% or 0.51 to hit $77.97 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.52% or 6.30 to trade at $1205.20 a troy ounce.

EUR/NGN was up 0.44% to 423.450, while USD/NGN rose 0.08% to 362.050.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.28% at 94.72.
